Disappointing defeat at underhill
The under-15s fell to a disappointing 6-3 defeat, against Mumbles, after a lacklustre display. Despite going into the match with hopes of maintaining their top-4 position, some woeful defending saw them concede numerous soft goals and see the three points go to the home side.
Dunvant lost key defender Ryan James early on and were two down at the break. Aided by some generous refereeing decisions, the hosts were sharper to the 50/50 balls and took their chances well.
Trailing 2-0 at the break, manager Ioan Bebb demanded a show of character from the players, in the second half and the players responded immediately with a classic piece of team-work. Some great passing put Harry Knill into the box and the winger showed great composure to open his Dunvant account. Poor defending allowed Mumbles to re-establish their advantage before Arwyn Adlam again reduced the arrears. However, once more, the defence were caught napping for Mumbles' fourth goal and there were two more in quick succession for powerful striker Callum Carson.
Sam Forrester scored his first Dunvant goal to narrow the gap but, in reality, the visitors were well short of their best and deserved what they got, on the day. More, tough games will follow and another show of character will be needed next week.
