Final defeat hard to take
The under-14s failed in their attempt to crown a hugely successful season with victory in the SJFL cup final. Llangyfelach eventually ran out 5-1 winners after a competitive match at Llandarcy. The Colts were deserving winners but the Yellow and Greens will look back on two contentious first-half decisions which could have turned the game.
After surviving an early storm, Dunvant grew in confidence and should have been ahead after 20 minutes. Jonathan Bebb's thunderous 30 yard strike hit the underside of the bar and appeared to bounce back out from behind the line. No goal was awarded and Llangyfelach took advantage of this good luck to take the lead a full minute after the allocated 30 minutes had passed.
The second half was a tough time for the tiring Dunvant boys and, despite replying bravely with Ben Chalk's cool finish, the Llangyfelach players were stronger as the game progressed.
Jamie Cameron was outstanding at the back and George Lumsdaine gave good support alongside. In Midfield, Bebb shone amongst several highly-rated Colts players and, again, Chalk was a real handful up-front.
The season ended in defeat but enough positives were gained to suggest that Dunvant will be a real threat in next year's senior League
