Fine effort comes to nothing
The under-15s gave West End a real scare, at Dukefield, before running out of steam in the second half. The Yellow and Greens led 2-1 with 5 minutes of the first half remaining and competed superbly against the league high-fliers on a heavy pitch.
West End opened the scoring but were shocked when skipper Jonathan Bebb smashed a 25yd drive into the top corner to equalise and deprive Sam Williams a clean sheet against his former club. There was better to come, for the hosts, as Arwyn Adlam spun in the box and buried his 15th of the season to earn a deserved lead. However an equaliser, for the visitors, just before the break tied the score.
The Dunvant boys continued to battle throughout the second period but were out-paced by the West End forwards who took their chances well. Adlam deserved a second but his effort, which beat Williams, stopped in the mud on the goal-line!!
The performance suggests that the boys are well equipped to do well in the second half of the season and, if they can replicate this quality, fourth place could still be theirs.
