Under 9s Robbed in Final
The super yellow and greens produced a heroic run to the final of the Swansea Junior League Tournament, only to be denied in extra-time. After a goal-less draw against Garden Village, in their first group match, Dunvant went on a goal-scoring rampage, bagging 4 against Treboeth, 7 against Mumbles Albion and 4 against Birchgrove to make the Semi-finals. Dylan Bebb led the way with 8 goals, in the group, including six against Mumbles. Three goals by Callum Jenkins, one each from Jack Coker and Tomos Davies and a brace from Luke Thomas completed the scoring.
In the Semis, Mumbles proved no match for Dunvant in a one-sided encounter. Bebb lashed in the opener from the edge of the box and Jenkins sealed the result, straight from a corner, in the second half.
The final was a feisty affair against Plough and some woeful refereeing prevented Dunvant from taking a deserved lead. Several times, Dunvant players were tripped and pushed without protection and the final whistle came with the teams locked, goal-less. No goals came in the opening period of extra-time but, immediately after the restart, Plough scored a fortunate "golden goal" to seal a tainted victory.
The Yellow and Greens can be thoroughly proud of their efforts and deserved a far better deal than that afforded to them in the final. Their outstanding record, over the course of the season, underlined the belief that they are the best team in Swansea!!!!
